I AM IN IT, VOL. 1: LIVE AT THE SOUND CASTLE
11 TRACK LP RELEASED AUG 28 2022

I Am In It, Vol. 1: Live at The Sound Castle was recorded on the fourth and final day of his residency for the recording of his sophomore solo album I Am In It, Vol 2. Feeling more than satisfied with the recordings for Vol. 2 after the first three days, Greg Orrē decided to record live run throughs of all three I Am In It albums from front to back, as well as two sets of covers. The piano/vocal performance of I Am In It, Vol 1: Live at The Sound Castle was released on August 28, 2022 — exactly two years after the release of the original studio album on August 28, 2020.

Front cover art features a self-portrait ink sketch by Greg Orrē, and is designed to be a mirror image of the Vol. 1 studio album oil-pastel album art. Thank you Creative Saskatchewan for supporting these recording sessions at The Sound Castle as part of the Sound Recording Grant Program.

I AM IN IT: AIRWAVES (Residency Project)
4 ONE HOUR LONG EPISODES

In March 2022, Greg Orrē was asked to be the host of Plain A.I.R, an artist-in-residence program for CFCR and CJTR. The residency is an open concept one hour radio show each Saturday in March where artists are encouraged to explore their artistry and experiment with a radio format. During each Saturday in March, Greg Orrē introduced listeners to his works and told stories about how the seasons inspired his music and writing. The artist also shared a number of new demo recordings of songs from his upcoming solo albums, as well as a number of cover songs from artists that have influenced him over the years. The new songs and covers shared on these four episodes were generally recorded and mixed by Greg during the month of March using his multi-tracker - the same tool he used to record and mix the majority of his first solo album I Am In It, Vol. 1. This residency lands just prior to Greg hitting the studio this spring to record his sophomore solo album I Am In It, Vol 2 and allowed the artist to reflect on his artistic career so far.

“I Am In It: Airwaves” is a companion piece to his overall I Am In It project. He explores the evolution of his art over the years, and considers how nature & the changing seasons influence his work as well as the works of other artists that he is inspired by. Since this show occurs during the month of March, he observes the waves of change in the air during the winter and spring seasons. He threads a needle through his older music up to the current project he is working on, and creates brand new works for this four-episode residency. “I Am In It: Airwaves” consists of storytelling, live performances of his own songs and covers, spoken word recordings, previews of his next solo album, and music from both Greg’s influences and his own discography going back to his Too Soon Monsoon days.
